This is a very exciting week for orchestra concerts in Texas! I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing three concerts, by three different orchestras this week and weekend.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, 7:30pm, at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, the Houston Symphony Orchestra is offering a FREE concert. They are performing Anton Bruckner's Symphony. no. 9. Seating is first come, first serve, so get there early! If you are in Houston, I wouldn't miss out on this if I were you! It's free! It's the Houston Symphony Orchestra! Hans Graf is conducting! It's Bruckner! GO TO THE CONCERT!!
On Saturday evening I hope to hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra play a seriously good program of Mozart, Wagner, and Debussy. This concert is right up my alley--Mozart Piano Concerto no. 20, Debussy's La Mer, and two Wagner pieces. I couldn't ask for more!
On Sunday afternoon I hope to attend the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, who I haven't heard before. I have long heard great things about them, and their conductor, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, so this hopefully will be enjoyable! The program includes Prokofiev's Suite from Cinderella, Borodin's Symphony no. 2, and FantasÃa sobre Yma Sumac, by their Composer-in-Residence, John B Hedges.
I'm looking forward to being saturated with good music by three great orchestra this week and weekend! Good times indeed!
